Jikishin-Kai International

The Jikishin-Kai International (JKI) is relatively unique among budō governing organisations, inasmuch as we do not maintain a "hombu" (main) dōjō in the usual sense.  Subsequent to the death of our founder, Shimabukuro Masayuki Hanshi, the JKI has essentially been a group of independently operated dōjō, united only by their desire and commitment to continue and spread his teachings.  Following the closure of Hanshi's original hombu dōjō in April 2022, several former JKI dojo leaders began discussions that led to the reconstitution of the JKI effective 30 September 2022.

By design, the revived JKI has no single location or leader, but instead each member dōjō remains independently operated under the auspices of the JKI, which is in turn governed by its Board of Directors and functions chiefly to maintain a uniform curriculum and promotion standards for its members.  Thus, each member dōjō listed below functions as the equivalent of a hombu dōjō, and has at least one authorised and accredited instructor who is profiicient in the forms of budō indicated in its listing.
